29 Oct 2006 - Pupils plant bulbs in readiness for Spring
Hundreds of daffodil bulbs have been planted in pots by children from three schools in Rickmansworth, Mill End and South Oxhey as part of Family Learning Week.
Parents came along and helped the children as they piled compost into pots and planted each bulb. The bulbs were supplied by Three Rivers District Council which was running its own scheme at the time.
Three Rivers Community Gardening Project co-ordinator Robert Bradshaw said: "We were happy to work in conjunction with Three Rivers District Council as it ties in with our aim to encourage families to see gardening as a family activity."

Robert added: "We hope to be able to work with more schools in the future and carry on encouraging children to enjoy gardening."
Some children were able to take their pots home afterwards to nuture and watch the plants develop, while others were going to look after them at school.
