18 Oct 2006 - Herts Funding Fair launches new website

The new, online Funding Guide for all grant aid relating to Hertfordshire (www.funding4herts.org.uk) was launched at the Hertfordshire External Resources Network (HERN) Funding Fair at the Fielder Centre, Hatfield.

"It is rare when one can launch something that is unique", said Cllr Derrick Ashley, Executive member on Hertfordshire County Council for Planning, Partnerships & Waste as he clicked the mouse to launch the new, online Funding Guide for Hertfordshire. Derrick continued, "I am pleased that the County Council has been able to sponsor this excellent resource for the County, and welcome the excellent role played by Hertfordshire Community Foundation in its development."

David Fitzpatrick, Chief Executive of Hertfordshire Community Foundation, in taking those present at the Funding Fair through the web site explained that the Guide would be freely available to the public as the first, natural port of call for those looking to find funding opportunities within the County of Hertfordshire.

"It has proved to be quite a challenge,? said David, "ensuring that we have researched all the many charities working or operating in the County, from the one person operation giving out perhaps £50 in a year, through to the huge Lottery funds, dispensing millions. Trying to find funding can be a nightmare," added David. "Hertfordshire Community Foundation is committed to making this is easy as possible and, with the funding support of the County Council, we have been able to make this task a lot simpler than it was."

The site is available at www.funding4herts.org from Thursday 19 October 2006. It takes would be grant seekers through sources of local advice, and the chance to narrow down a search for local charities, to make the findings more relevant to what the searcher is looking for. It is a simple interface and, because it is online, it can be kept up to date.

Cllr Derrick Ashley added, "Hertfordshire Community Foundation was the obvious choice for us as a Council to ask to do this work. We see them as the natural port of call for anyone interested either in giving money, or for this looking to get grant aid. This site adds to their excellent reputation."
