25 Sep 2006 - Fundng and Support from Hertfordshire County Council
For the last five years the County Council has run an annual process to advertise what funding is available for Voluntary and Community Sector (VCS) groups to deliver services.
"Throughout the same period the Council has made substantial progress in placing VCS groups onto longer term contracts designed to formalise funding agreements and offer stability to this Sector," said Andrew Burt, Funding and Partnerships Manager.
"The County Council has been reviewing the progress made, additional plans by Departments to place groups onto contracts, the level of the remaining funds available for distribution and the possibility of outsourcing these to external agency(ies).
"Final decisions on the recommendations of the review are due shortly but it is expected that a formal prospectus will no longer be produced.

"Of the remaining funds it is anticipated that the Children Schools and Families Department will merge their Prevention and Early Intervention Fund and the Schools Lets Fund into one new fund that will continue to support early intervention and preventative type services for 0-19 year olds. Information on how to access this fund should be made available on 1 October 2006 with a closing date for all applications of 31 December 2006. Funding decisions will be announced by February 2007. A link to this information will be placed on the www.hertsdirect.org/funding website. The process for applying for this funding will be managed by the Children Schools and Families Strategic Commissioning Team."
The County Council will continue to commissioning and seek tenders from VCS organisations to deliver services and links to this information about these opportunities will be made from the www.hertsdirect.org/funding website in due course.
VCS organisations are also reminded to review the information, advice and guidance about possible alternative sources of funding including a range of funding search tools provded by the Herts External Resources Network that can be found on www.hertsdirect.org/hern
