13 Feb 2006 - Three Rivers Volunteers Gala

Three Rivers first ever Volunteers Gala was held at the Royal Masonic School for Girls, in Rickmansworth and proved hugely popular and enjoyable.

The Gala marked the end of the Year of the Volunteer and all the extra activities which have gone into promoting and attracting new volunteers.
"We wanted to do something special to show our appreciation to the hundreds of volunteers who do so much for people in their communities week in week out for little recognition," said Lynn Green, manager of Three Rivers Volunteer Centre.

A complimentary gala evening complete with awards, buffet, bar and live music was planned and the response was overwhelming.

"We obviously hit a chord and were only sorry that we had to turn down some people in the end as we very quickly reached the capacity," said Lynn.

Awards were presented to three volunteers for the outstanding contribution they make to their organisations and to three organisations for the special way in which they "Value their Volunteers".

The event was supported and made possible through the generous contributions of
* Volunteering England
* Royal Masonic School for Girls
* Waitrose
* The Grove hotel
* The Black Horse, Chorleywood
* Duke of York, Coach and Horses, The Sportman, and Artichoke, all of Croxley Green
* Coach and Horses, The Pennsylvanian and Druids of Rickmansworth
* Higgins of Chorleywood
* A number of well wishers who wish to remain anonymous.

Our thanks to all these people.
