14 Feb 2006 - Garden Bugs and Beasties

Three Rivers Community Gardening Project teamed up with Rickmansworth Library and South Oxhey Library during half term week to bring young ones closer to the world of bugs and beasties.

The afternoon began with a specially themed Animal Storytime for children under 10. Following the story the children had the opportunity to meet some of the bugs that live in the garden, tested their knowledge with a bug quiz and had a go at paper craft.

Daniela Izera of the Community Gardening Project said: "We had a wonderful response and the children were able to show off their talents at art work.

(One winning entry, for more see below.)
"Judging proved very difficult but we are very pleased to announce the winners. They have each received a packet of seeds which we hope they will plant in their own gardens and watch grow in the next few months."

The winning entries are currently on display at the libraries where they were drawn.
